We will look after your vehicle to the best of our ability but unfortunately accidents do occasionally happen. You are insured with Lloyds of London but naturally there have to be some conditions and exclusions and there are some circumstances that cannot be covered. In order for us to have arranged marine insurance cover you must declare to us the value of your vehicle and sign a completed pre-shipment vehicle condition report. If you do not give us a valuation or sign a pre-shipment vehicle condition report then our liability will default to Limited Liability. The declared value should have represented the full replacement value at destination.

Exclusions also include:

  • Any existing damage/faults to the car – a pre-shipment vehicle condition report shows any existing damage/faults.
  • Breakdown or any damage caused by frost.
  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Any electrical or mechanical derangement unless caused by an insured peril.
  • Any goods, personal effects or any other items contained within a vehicle and excluding any loss and/or damage caused by such contents to the vehicle.
  • Excluding third party liability.
  • Excluding indirect or consequential losses.
  • Claims made outside the period of cover, 21 days prior to or 7 days after shipment, or where the car is received at destination and signed for as being undamaged.

Correct Valuation. In the event of the actual value being greater than the declared value the marine insurance cover shall only bear such proportion of the loss as the declared value bears to the total value of the vehicle.

In the event of a claim a £250.00 excess would apply.

We strongly recommend that for peace of mind you protect your vehicle with our marine insurance.
