APPROXIMATE CHARGES PAYABLE ON ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA

- Port charges and fees (A$400–600) – payable to the shipping line office or the clearance agent
- Haulage and container unpacking charges (A$500–700) – payable to the local shipping line office and / or the unpacking warehouse / the clearance agent
- Australian ‘as landed’ valuation (if necessary) (A$200–400) – payable to the car valuer
- Customs and aircon gas fees (A$100–200) – payable to Australian Customs / the clearance agent
- Customs clearance (if carried out by an agent) (A$200–400) – payable to the clearance agent
- Customs clearance for any personal effects (A$100–200) – payable to the clearance agent
- Quarantine inspection and fees (A$200–300) – payable to AQIS / the clearance agent
- Cleaning fees (if ordered by AQIS) (A$200–400) – payable to AQIS / the clearance agent
- Speedometer change from mph to kph only (if necessary), child safety restraint points (if necessary) wing mirror glass (if necessary), engineers report (if necessary) – (A$800–1200) – payable to the workshop / engineer – each state in Australia has it’s own requirements
- Transportation fees after container unpacking (A$100–300) – payable to the trucking company
- Roadworthy test (A$200–300) – payable to the registration office
- Annual registration (A$500–600 per year) – payable to the registration office
- Stamp Duty (2% to 5% where applicable) – payable at the registration office
- Driving insurance (for fully comprehensive cover) (A$variable) – payable to an insurance broker.
